Kate the DJ

Kate is a delightful girl, full of ideas and curiosity. Like many highly imaginative people her mind sometimes moves to fast for her fingers but this is something we will continue to work on. We certainly don't want to lose her marvelous spontaneity! She is a most helpful and pleasant girl in her relationships and shows considerable organising abilities as well. She has also been a first class record player monitor." Mr Halliday. Class 5. Frinton County Primary School, Essex. Summer Term 1979.

Wildblood isn’t exactly what she says on the tin. You couldn’t do her under the trade description act that’s for sure, but there is a more sensitive side to this lass than her name would suggest. And dj wise that comes out courtesy of her soulful house side. Wildblood likes her tunes disco-dusted, layered with Latin or soul-tinged. Never happier than when she’s djing Wildblood joined the Wild Fruit dj rota in 2003 when Audio was still The Escape and the play list was chilled. Soon she was proving at Sunday Sundae what clubbers at the Candy Bar, Shameless Hussies and Housewife’s Choice already knew. She was a house girl at heart. And the four to the floor soon followed. Kate served her apprenticeship well and was soon behind the decks at Wild Fruit, Monkey and Rebel. Add her ventures at French Kiss, Majesty, Work! @ Heaven, Climax Disco, Secret Disco, Purple In The Park, Queer Nation, Wet Pussy and Honey. 2008  panned out to be a vintage year for Wildblood as 'promotion' at Sunday Sundae sees her rocking the terrace with her main slot ventures. Finally Wildblood has got the recognition for the groove she's held so close to her heart for so long. 2009 has been no different as Kate continues her Sundae groove and Wild Fruit wonders at Brighton pride including Matinee Vs Wild Fruit @ The Honeyclub, Wild Fruit Official Pride Party @ Audio, the ever fabulous Pride Sunday Sundae and a back to back slot with Neil Duffie in The Wild Fruit Big Top on Preston Park. Autumn looks bright with gigs for Together, Dad's Old Dance, Rebel and Sunday Sundae on the horizon. And as for the infamous Red party....plan those outfits now.

As every Chicago house don has uttered since the early days “it’s all about house music” and although she maybe an Essex girl Wildblood clearly feels that heritage. Be it courtesy of her old skool and disco littered sets at Wild Fruit, the filthy funk of her Monkey moments or the soulful sweetness of her Secret or Electronic Disco sessions Wildblood is one of the most passionate dj’s around. But it’s at her spiritual home of Sunday Sundae where she’s most at home. Be the beats laidback, Latin, classic or disco lovely, Wildblood gets no greater thrill than when she’s behind those Audio decks. The terrace, the tunes, the sunshine and the people combine to make Wildblood one chuffed dj. A dj loving her work!

"As the sun began to set - the crowds fell into line on the dancefloor to some gorgeous mixes of club classics from Kate Wildblood, Diablo and Richard Jones. I'm not sure what it is about Sunday Sundae... maybe it's a timing thing... maybe it's a music thing... but it always puts a smile on everyone's faces! "

"The DJ, writer and album maker has been wowing the crowds in Brighton for more years than she cares to remember and it would be easier to list the places she hasn’t played on the scene rather than the ones she has. " Ask The Dj. www.rainbownetwork.com October 2006

"Sunday Sundae and Cash Queen is the perfect combination. Stylish, but affordable. The music at both is great and played out by some of our favourite DJs. Dulcie, Kate, Richard and Mick each bringing their own flavour to the proceedings. " Tim Nash, Real Brighton. 03.09.06

" Now you need some where you can chill, chat with friends, maybe have a little dance to some of the best DJs in Brighton, a few drinks, sit in the sun with the beach, the sea, the pier in front of you and watch to world go by. If this is true then you need Sunday Sundae, what ever your reason for being in Brighton on a Sunday this can't be missed. Now I just need to find a way to move all of that to London." www.scene-out.com
